Thesis- Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights Movement was an important and effective event that happened in America. The Civil Rights Movement changed the day to day life of an African American person living in the United States at that time. Blacks/African Americans gained their equality, power, and respect from the whites, who believed that African Americans are different and should not be allowed the same rights they should. African Americans had suffered from low payments, even not getting jobs because of the color of their skins, getting very poor education while whites were getting better education. Having to stand up for a white person on the bus so he could sit down instead of him. Not being allowed to go to the same bathroom as the whites, or share fountains or even forced to move benches because they were not allowed to sit down next to a white person. African Americans were not allowed to go into particularly restaurants. They were discriminated and were treated horribly. The Civil Rights Movement might not have made a huge difference to whites, but it made a huge difference to African Americans who were treated unequally to a white person. They fought their way into getting their rights and equality, not using violence but making the whites listen and show them they are humans too. The African Americans showed their involvement and hundreds of African Americans, and even whites, joined in rallies, boycotts, sit ins, and other gatherings and tried to make a difference in what they believed could change America for the better. Their leading figures were involved and showed compassion and caring, they did not use violence, hatred, terrorism. They wanted to show that they are good people and they deserve better. They deserve education, they deserve to sit down on a bus (in front) and not let a white person take their place, they deserve to sit wherever they want to, and they deserve to use the restrooms whenever they have to and not be forced to find a dirtier one with a sign "For Colored People".
