Robert Kennedy
Robert Kennedy was against discrimination of blacks in the United States. One of his first speeches was the support of the Civil Rights, his audience were whites living in the South.
He said "There is no reason that in the near or the foreseeable future, a Negro could not become President of the United States". He supported the Civil Rights actions and wanted to make a change of how whites think of blacks. He wanted to end segregation and create equality in America. On May 29th, he pleaded the Interstate Commerce Commission to adopt "stringent regulations", which stopped segregation in interstate bus travel. That was a HUGE move into the Civil Rights Movement. It removed Jim Crow signs in stations and ended segregation of waiting rooms, water fountains, and restrooms, making the African Americans want to fight even more and end more segregation, it made them believe that a change can happen. Robert Kenndy had many supporters and many haters. He was running for president and many people thought that he could make a change in America.
