Racism
Racism was a huge problem in the United States at this time, colored people were forbidden interaction with white people. Therefore; white people could never even know any colored people and that is how their public behavior and believes of them changed; they thought they were different from them, like they were different kinds of humans. Racism was all over America. In schools, playgrounds, bathrooms, drinking fountains, restaurants gatherings (events), and even in jobs. Whites were getting better things, better environments and better education. While, colored people were getting the "left-overs". They were treated poorly, with poor education, poor environments.
Although racism has improved because of the Civil Rights Movement, many believe it is still effective till today. Poverty, unemployment, urban decay, crime and violence, are all examples of racism that many believe are effective today in America.

"Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars... Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King was against violence. He wanted to show people how to use non- violence to get their equal rights, and that was his plan getting into the Civil Rights Movement, non-violence. He wanted to show the whites, the country, that colored people come in peace and all they want is to be equal to them and get the rights they deserve as citizens of the United States. He believed that violence would just cause more conflict, and believed that if he wants to be heard, words are deeper than a hit. Martin Luther King Jr. used his knowledge instead of his hands/weapons to fight for their equality. One of the most famous non-violent protest was the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which many blacks and some whites found it unfair for them to have to give up their seat for whites, and did not go on transportation of a bus for a whole year, which caused the Supreme Court to be concerned and change the transportation seatings. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the best examples of a non-violent leader who made his way by never using violence because he did not believe it was necessary and would just cause more destruction.
